IWC Watches

The International Watch Co - commonly called simply IWC, was established in Schaffhausen, Switzerland in 1868. IWC are known for the consistency of their collections based on 6 core lines - Pilot's, Portuguese, Ingenieur, Aquatimer, Da Vinci and Portofino.

The Portuguese was first produced in 1939 and today features a dial with alternating hours in Arabic numerals and graduations with a seconds sub-dial at the 6 o'clock position. In 1955, IWC released the Ingenieur with an automatic movement and the current version features a see-through case back. The Aquatimer was launched in 1967 and today is a luxury diving watch featuring an inner rotating bezel controlled by its own crown and is water resistant to 120 metres. The Da Vinci was first unveiled in 1969 and was the first IWC watch to be powered by a quartz movement. The Da Vinci abandoned the quartz movement in 1985 and has contained a mechanical movement ever since. The Portofino is the most recent line to be added by IWC and was released in 1984. It is IWC's most understated and elegant line and has a moon phase function with a seconds sub dial at 6 o'clock.
